About The Institute of Contemplative Studies

The Institute of Contemplative Studies (ICS) was established in January 1994 as a center for training and education in contemplative psychotherapy. Initially, ICS’s mission was to train psychologists and psychotherapists to provide mental health services and education to low and moderate-income individuals and their families. Since 1999, ICS’s central focus has been exclusively to provide education on the contemplative arts in the form of seminars, trainings, and academic courses. In doing so, ICS is dedicated to the cause of disseminating perennial wisdom that contributes to individuals and collectives becoming informed about what it means to live as a complete and realized human being, and the effects of such an existence on world peace.
